30 July 2010

Between 30 July and 1 August the Substation was one of three venues that hosted MargatePhotoFest, Margate’s first annual photography festival which seeks to promote the best in local, national and international contemporary photography.

In contribution to the momentum of Margate's emergence as a new haven of visual arts signaled by massive cultural investment, MargatePhotoFest presents a diverse range of photographic works and installation formats thereof.

Regardless of showing the works of internationally acclaimed artists it holds to the motto 'work on the walls', showing works at the lowest possible cost, to offer accessibility to anyone who chooses it.

The project was organised by Mark Dumbrell. The images below show work by Vinca Petersen and Dan Bass. Documentation by Kevin Clarke.
